I'm a Professional Bra Fitter and have empowered many women to love themselves and their breasts through education and proper fitting.
As women, we all have breasts, but we are rarely ever educated on how to care and support them.
Unfortunately, it is only when we go through major life changes (breastfeeding, sickness or injury) attention is given and it's usually negative.
In my sessions, I celebrate womens' bodies and the complimentary attribute that makes us female.
My message can be tailored to all age groups, from tweens to seniors.
Save The Girls, Get Them Screened
by Yolande Daniel, RN, CIC
It's that time of the year again, where the focus is all on the girls. But for women, every day is a day to celebrate and care for our breasts. Unfortunately, the body parts that we treasure, can cost us our lives. According to the CDC, every year over 245,000 women are diagnosed with breast cancer and approximately 41000 die of this disease. So, it is vital that you get screened annually, as a mammogram is the only effective method for early discovery of any breast abnormalities.
As a registered nurse, I know the importance of practicing preventative care. Getting annual screenings and being aware of your breasts can lead to early detection with early intervention that can reduce your risk of more aggressive treatments, even death.
For African American women, the risks are even higher, as deaths are higher than in white women. As a woman of African descent, this issue is personal. So, as a woman it is important that you get screened, but if you are a woman of color getting a mammogram is imperative.
Ladies, take care of your girls, get them screened. Tell your mother, sister, daughter or girlfriend. Protect the girls, save a life.
